Spring Sketch - 2012
Every Friday we have to turn in a sketch for the week. I enjoy drawing famous cartoon characters. For the week of May 18th, I drew Simba from the Lion King. I chose to draw Simba because the Lion King is my favorite cartoon movie. This is my first sketch that i drew out boxes and worked on one box at a time.
Spring Sketch - 2012
Every Friday we have to turn in a sketch for the week. I enjoy drawing famous cartoon characters. For the week of February 24, 2012 I turned in a sketch of one of the aliens from the Toy Story movies. I chose to draw the alien because Toy Story is one of my all time favorite kid/ cartoon movies. I drew this without boxing the paper, but while looking at a picture of one of the aliens.
Drip Painting - 2012
This was a project we did called "Drip Painting". We were told to put tape in random spots on a white piece of construction like paper, pour dissinigrated watercolors onto the paper, and move the paper so the colors dried all over and not in streaks. After the project dried we were to find shapes and/ or objects in the picture and define them. My wildfire idea came to me when i saw two streaks that hadn't been blended on the paper. Those two streaks turned into trees and those trees became surrounded by a fire, a wildfire.
Scratchboard - 2012
This was our Scratchboard project. On this project we were told to pick a picture (one with texture), and sketch it onto paper. From there we penciled the back of the paper, placed it onto the black scratchboard, and drew over all line the lines in pen. This process helped our photo transfer from paper to the board. From their we took a tack (with a sharp point) and went over the lines to etch the image into the board. When I was finished with this process I went back and added texture to my puma/panther. I chose a puma/panther for this project because one of my favorite family of animals is the cat family.
2 in 1 - 2012
This was a project we did called 2 in 1. We were supposed to pick two pictures, of anything and weave them together to crate a 2 in 1. I chose two pictures, one of each of my little cousins. The pictures are from my aunts wedding that they stood up in. Having two pictures of peoples face looked to crowded when I weaved them together on one side, so my art teacher gave me the suggestion to put one upside down and one right side up and weave them together. I took her suggestion and this is how my 2 in 1 turned out.
Printmaking Unit - 2012
This was our printmaking unit. We were suppossed to pick a song and draw out an image of something in the lyrics. I then colored the back with pencil and used a pen to go over the pencil lines, so the image would transfer onto the rubber base. Then I took some carving tools (of all shapes) and carved on the lines into the rubber. The deeper you carved meant that part would turn out white, and the shapes that were not carved or were close to the top would stay black. When I was finsihed with the product I took my rubber base over to the inking station were I put black (and once white) ont a mirror and spread it out the a roller. Taking a roller I rolled the ink onto the rubber base and over my carvings a few times. Lastly I took the already cut and sized paper lined it up with the picture and carefully pressed the paper to the base. The finished product is what you see below. I chose the song Lighters by; Bruno Mars and Eminem. I chose the song Lighters because the song was popular at the time and I liked the meaning behind the lyrics.
